In the image above is written the Filipino (Tagalog) and English lyrics of the Philippine National Anthem. The Anthem was originally played in pure musical rendition meant only as a march band music and was composed by Julian Felipe in 1898 entitled Marcha Nacional Filipina (Philippine National March). It was subsequently played during the proclamation of Philippine Independence on June 12 by President Emilio Aguinaldo. A year later, in 1899, Jose Palma composed the lyrics in Spanish with the same title as Marcha Nacional Filipina. The lyrics was an adaptation from a Spanish poem entitled Filipinas.
In 1938, the English translation, The Philippine Hymn, was composed and was adopted during the Commonwealth era which is now the present and accepted English lyrics.
Notice the first quatrain in the English version:
Land of the morning,
Child of the sun returning.
With fervor burning,
Thee do our souls adore.
Did you ever wonder why the lyrics were written this way? Because the truth is, the proclamation of the Philippine Independence and the playing of the musical of the Philippine National Anthem heralded the coming of the Holy Spirit as promised by the Lord Jesus Christ around two thousand years ago. That land in the morning refers to the "isles in the east" mentioned in the Bible which suits only to the descriptions of the Philippines because the dawning of the morning always comes from the east and Philippines is the only Christian country in the far east that believes in the second coming of the Christ and the Holy Spirit. Let me further discuss to you in details:
That child of the sun returning refers to the coming birth of the son of God because the word child is synonymous with the word son and the coming of the Holy Spirit does not confine to His coming or descent from above in the form of a "light of glory" but will be born as a child/son in like manner as that of Jesus Christ. Why? Because he will come to remind us of all the things concerning Jesus Christ, and that "all things" means "all" including the manner the Christ was born.
Moreover, in the name of the person who proclaimed the Philippine Independence carries a hint into what really happened during that day. The name Aguinaldo, which is a Spanish word is gift in English. What gift? It was the Philippine Independence, the most awaited gift of the Filipinos who fought for their freedom from the cruel Spanish regime. And the Philippine flag itself displays it all for the whole world to know. Because when we hang the flag vertically it depicts the holy man who was hanged on the cross in the Mt. Calvary.
Notice also of the second quatrain:
Land dear and holy,
Cradle of noble heroes,
Ne’er shall invaders
Trample thy sacred shores.
Land dear and holy? Yes, because the Philippines is the land dear and holy to God. It is the ancient land of Havilah east of Eden rich in gold mentioned in Genesis. It is the land of Adam and Eve, the King Solomon's islands of gold, the land of Ophir, and the New Jerusalem mentioned in the book of Revelation. It is the land promised to those who will endure until the end. It is indeed, the Philippines is the chosen land of sacred shores.
