Legacies of the Five Presidents (M-A-R-E-A)

Legacies of Five Philippine Presidents (Marcos-Arroyo). Those five presidents will be remembered because of their most significant achievements during their administration / presidency / incumbency / tenure. HOWEVER, they will also be remembered of the controversies or scandals, which is not included in the video.

Ferdinand "FM" Marcos (1965-1986): Through his "New Society", his most significant achievement is the major infrastructures in the country and the diplomatic relations with many world leaders, most notably the United States.

Also during his tenure, democracy was temporarily abolished(replaced by totalitarian rule), there had been many violations of human rights, murdering innocent civilians, and allegations of corruption.

Corazon "Cory" Aquino (1986-1992): She restored democracy in the country after 12 years of totalitarian rule. Restored elections and both houses of congress.

She faced 8 coup attempts. She also sue Louie Beltran for libel after he wrote that the President had hid under her bed during the August 1987 coup as the siege of MalacaƱang began.

Fidel "FVR" Ramos (1992-1998): His first 5 years in office was characterized by rapid economic growth. The Philippine economy then was called the "tiger economy". (In 1997, however, the economic growth slowed down until the end of his presidency due to the Asian Financial Crisis). He also managed to stop the nation wide brownouts by establishing the department of energy.

Like many Philippine presidents, he faced allegations of corruptions. Among those are the PEA AMMARI fund scam, Centennial Expo fund scandal and the AFP modernization fund scam.

Joseph "Erap" Estrada (1998-2001): He got the economy recovered from the Asian Financial Crisis, from -0.6% GDP growth in 1998 to 3.4% GDP growth in 1999 to 4.0% GDP growth in 2000. After all the number of peace talks with the MILF and insurgences still continue, he declared an all-out-war w/ the MILF and won and no insurgences happened after the war until the end of his presidency .

He faced impeachment because of the jueteng scandal(which led to his fall). He also had a conflict with 2 major newspapers, midnight cabinet and his mistresses.

Gloria "GMA" Macapagal-Arroyo (2001-present): She concentrates her presidency on the economy and achieved 7% in GDP growth in 2007. And in the present Global Financial Crisis the GDP fell to 4%, however the economy does not face a recession, unlike many countries today. She also creates a diplomatic relationship, especially the United States by aligning the country in the fight against terrorism.

Among the corruption charges that she face are the Fertilizer fund scam, Jose Pidal account, ZTE broadband deal scandal, an electoral fraud scandal called the Hello Garci Controversy(which led to the resignation of many of her cabinet members) and coup attemps.

Golden Achievements of Ferdinand Marcos

Marcos' 20 year iron rule has been the golden age in our country. Sometime on his reign, Philippines had become the 2nd richest country and the most literate in Asia. Many schools, hospital, bridges etc are dedicated to make Greater Philippines a superpower alongside USA and China.

However, all his enemies had united in the so-called "People Power." Marcos was forced to exile and died in Hawaii, as a sad martyr who only wanted the development of his nation. His fall from power started the "Times of Troubles" in the Philippines. Too much Democracy and Freedom had made Philippines poor and chaotic.

Have you ever thought that after Marcos, almost ALL politicians wanted to become "President". People had become power hungry after his fall. Instead of developing our nation, they are fighting each other and backstabbing each other.

The treacherous ideas of his enemies had attacked him and all his dreams had been lost. His image has been defamed by books, newspapers and medias, all of whom were without historical analysis. He is in fact a GOOD DICTATOR who devoted more than 20 years of his life on the happiness and glory of Philippines.

The Message in the Philippine National Anthem

In the image above is written the Filipino (Tagalog) and English lyrics of the Philippine National Anthem. The Anthem was originally played in pure musical rendition meant only as a march band music and was composed by Julian Felipe in 1898 entitled Marcha Nacional Filipina (Philippine National March). It was subsequently played during the proclamation of Philippine Independence on June 12 by President Emilio Aguinaldo. A year later, in 1899, Jose Palma composed the lyrics in Spanish with the same title as Marcha Nacional Filipina. The lyrics was an adaptation from a Spanish poem entitled Filipinas.

In 1938, the English translation, The Philippine Hymn, was composed and was adopted during the Commonwealth era which is now the present and accepted English lyrics.

Notice the first quatrain in the English version:
Land of the morning,
Child of the sun returning.
With fervor burning,
Thee do our souls adore.

Did you ever wonder why the lyrics were written this way? Because the truth is, the proclamation of the Philippine Independence and the playing of the musical of the Philippine National Anthem heralded the coming of the Holy Spirit as promised by the Lord Jesus Christ around two thousand years ago. That land in the morning refers to the "isles in the east" mentioned in the Bible which suits only to the descriptions of the Philippines because the dawning of the morning always comes from the east and Philippines is the only Christian country in the far east that believes in the second coming of the Christ and the Holy Spirit. Let me further discuss to you in details:

That child of the sun returning refers to the coming birth of the son of God because the word child is synonymous with the word son and the coming of the Holy Spirit does not confine to His coming or descent from above in the form of a "light of glory" but will be born as a child/son in like manner as that of Jesus Christ. Why? Because he will come to remind us of all the things concerning Jesus Christ, and that "all things" means "all" including the manner the Christ was born.

Moreover, in the name of the person who proclaimed the Philippine Independence carries a hint into what really happened during that day. The name Aguinaldo, which is a Spanish word is gift in English. What gift? It was the Philippine Independence, the most awaited gift of the Filipinos who fought for their freedom from the cruel Spanish regime. And the Philippine flag itself displays it all for the whole world to know. Because when we hang the flag vertically it depicts the holy man who was hanged on the cross in the Mt. Calvary.

Notice also of the second quatrain:
Land dear and holy,
Cradle of noble heroes,
Ne’er shall invaders
Trample thy sacred shores.

Land dear and holy? Yes, because the Philippines is the land dear and holy to God. It is the ancient land of Havilah east of Eden rich in gold mentioned in Genesis. It is the land of Adam and Eve, the King Solomon's islands of gold, the land of Ophir, and the New Jerusalem mentioned in the book of Revelation. It is the land promised to those who will endure until the end. It is indeed, the Philippines is the chosen land of sacred shores.
