Ferdinand "FM" Marcos (1965-1986): Through his "New Society", his most significant achievement is the major infrastructures in the country and the diplomatic relations with many world leaders, most notably the United States.
Also during his tenure, democracy was temporarily abolished(replaced by totalitarian rule), there had been many violations of human rights, murdering innocent civilians, and allegations of corruption.
Corazon "Cory" Aquino (1986-1992): She restored democracy in the country after 12 years of totalitarian rule. Restored elections and both houses of congress.
She faced 8 coup attempts. She also sue Louie Beltran for libel after he wrote that the President had hid under her bed during the August 1987 coup as the siege of Malacañang began.
Fidel "FVR" Ramos (1992-1998): His first 5 years in office was characterized by rapid economic growth. The Philippine economy then was called the "tiger economy". (In 1997, however, the economic growth slowed down until the end of his presidency due to the Asian Financial Crisis). He also managed to stop the nation wide brownouts by establishing the department of energy.
Like many Philippine presidents, he faced allegations of corruptions. Among those are the PEA AMMARI fund scam, Centennial Expo fund scandal and the AFP modernization fund scam.
Joseph "Erap" Estrada (1998-2001): He got the economy recovered from the Asian Financial Crisis, from -0.6% GDP growth in 1998 to 3.4% GDP growth in 1999 to 4.0% GDP growth in 2000. After all the number of peace talks with the MILF and insurgences still continue, he declared an all-out-war w/ the MILF and won and no insurgences happened after the war until the end of his presidency .
He faced impeachment because of the jueteng scandal(which led to his fall). He also had a conflict with 2 major newspapers, midnight cabinet and his mistresses.
Gloria "GMA" Macapagal-Arroyo (2001-present): She concentrates her presidency on the economy and achieved 7% in GDP growth in 2007. And in the present Global Financial Crisis the GDP fell to 4%, however the economy does not face a recession, unlike many countries today. She also creates a diplomatic relationship, especially the United States by aligning the country in the fight against terrorism.
Among the corruption charges that she face are the Fertilizer fund scam, Jose Pidal account, ZTE broadband deal scandal, an electoral fraud scandal called the Hello Garci Controversy(which led to the resignation of many of her cabinet members) and coup attemps.
